Jacobina Biscuits | Things to do in Mendez-Cavite
Noceda Bakery has been making them since 1947 and little has changed in the baking process over the years. Made of flour, sugar, milk, and butter, the dough is cut into tiny squares and baked for about 30 minutes in a wood-fueled brick oven.
Sold in snack packs (P27 to P55) and family packs (P125), the biscuits are available daily in the bakery in Mendez and in another branch in Tagaytay. The product is also exported to Filipino stores in other Asian countries and the United States.

Comprising eight hectares, Yoki Farm is one of the biggest hydroponics farms in Cavite. Instead of soil, the farm uses coconut husk and mineral nutrient solutions as a medium for growing lettuce, its primary product. The farm, which started with the soilless planting method in 2005, currently maintains three greenhouses for green ice, romaine, and lollo rossa lettuce varieties, and one greenhouse for other vegetables. A guided tour at Yoki Farm includes a 15-minute lecture and demo on hydroponics farming. Tourists can also visit the antiques museum which features the owners’ private collection of giant Buddhas, jade model ships, terracotta warriors, Egyptian statues, porcelain and bronze wares, and other interesting trinkets. The farm also has an aviary with a variety of birds such as peacock, macaw, cockatoo, parakeet, and white-bellied sea eagle.
The largest collection of jigsaw puzzles in the world, Puzzle Mansion is a novelty museum in Tagaytay City. It has a collection of 1,500 jigsaw puzzles, and growing, a passion of Mrs. Georgina Gil-Lacuna since she began puzzle solving in 1986. The jigsaw puzzles come from various countries in the world. Most depict fine art pieces such as Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Edvard Munch's The Scream, and Pablo Picasso's Guernica. While most are in 2D, a small collection include 3D and 4D pieces. The highlight of the museum is the Ravensburger Puzzle, the world's largest jigsaw puzzle with 32,000 pieces. Guests can check out its puzzle store on the second floor, where you can buy some of the puzzles already featured in the museum. Accommodation, which starts at P4,480/room, good for 2 to 4, is also available. This includes breakfast, the museum entrance, and use of the infinity pool.
Exploring Amadeo wouldn't be complete without drinking a cup of Amadeo Coffee or Pahimis Blend, and getting lost in one of its coffee farms. Coffee farms carpet 75 percent, or 3,600 hectares, of Amadeo's total land area. With about 4,000 coffee farmers in town, every street reeks of coffee, some turned into dryer beds for coffee beans. While visitors can easily knock on someone's door to check out his coffee farm, the best farm to see is the farm project by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCCAARRD). The 2.7-hectare farm project, called Science and Technology-based Farm on Coffee Production, is headed by the farmer-scientist Teodoro dela Cruz. He tours travelers around his farm, and introduces them to many coffee planting techniques such as multiple cropping, multiple stem pruning, and fertilizer application.
