Amadeo Coffee is a coffee brand that comes in four varieties of beans: excelsa, arabica, robusta, and liberica (barako), each with its own unique flavor and aroma. In Cafe Belardo, Amadeo Coffee is available in 20 different mixes, served hot, cold, or frappe, at about P80/cup. Other than getting a cup of coffee, visitors can also buy a bag of beans (P170/500g) or visit the coffee mill just beside the cafe. At the mill, you'd see how coffee beans undergo five stages of processing: from the picking, milling, and sorting, to the drying and roasting. Cafe Belardo is one of the two main coffee retailers in Amadeo, the other being Cafe Amadeo. Like Cafe Amadeo, Cafe Belardo collects its coffee beans from various farmers in Amadeo, and supplies the processed beans to many coffee shops in Tagaytay and Metro Manila.
Exploring Amadeo wouldn't be complete without drinking a cup of Amadeo Coffee or Pahimis Blend, and getting lost in one of its coffee farms. Coffee farms carpet 75 percent, or 3,600 hectares, of Amadeo's total land area. With about 4,000 coffee farmers in town, every street reeks of coffee, some turned into dryer beds for coffee beans. While visitors can easily knock on someone's door to check out his coffee farm, the best farm to see is the farm project by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCCAARRD). The 2.7-hectare farm project, called Science and Technology-based Farm on Coffee Production, is headed by the farmer-scientist Teodoro dela Cruz. He tours travelers around his farm, and introduces them to many coffee planting techniques such as multiple cropping, multiple stem pruning, and fertilizer application.
Pahimis Blend is a combination of four varieties of coffee beans, namely excelsa, arabica, robusta, and liberica (barako). The blend is a fine brew with a calming taste and relaxing aroma. The definitive blend of Amadeo, Pahimis Blend paved way to the town's Pahimis Coffee Festival, celebrated every February 13.
Pahimis Blend is sold in Cafe Amadeo, one of the two main coffee retailers in town, the other being Cafe Belardo. At Cafe Amadeo, visitors can either get a cup of brewed Pahimis Blend (P20/cup), buy a bag of beans (P125/225g), or purchase other unique products from Cavite, such as Indang's Chocolate Tablea (P65), Mendez' Hacobina Biscuit (P70), and Pineapple Candy (P70).
Cafe Amadeo is a collaborative effort of Cafe Amadeo Development Cooperative, a group of coffee farmers and millers in Amadeo, Cavite. Like Cafe Belardo, Cafe Amadeo distributes its processed beans to many coffee shops in Tagaytay and Metro Manila.
