Andres Bonifacio Shrine and Eco-Tourism Park | Things to do in Maragondon-Cavite
|Open:||Everyday, open 24hrs. Open on holidays.|
|Address:||Brgy. Pinagsanhan B, Maragondon, Cavite|
Just like Pinagsanhan Hanging Bridge, Caingin Hanging Bridge crosses over Maragondon River. Also made of metal wires and planks of wood, this bridge connects Barangay Pinagsanhan and Barangay Caingin. The latter was named so due to the kaingin or deforestation activities that once took place in the area. Down the bridge, visitors can either swim, go fishing, or rent a bamboo raft (P1,000/day, maximum capacity of 30 people) to cruise down Maragondon River.
Mabakaw River is a deep and narrow gorge sandwiched in between two rock formations. The shallower parts of the river are popular swimming spots to local residents. The deeper areas are almost inaccessible due to the strong current and steep walls. The river bottlenecks down a narrower gorge where a bridge called Tulay Baba is found. During summer, nipa huts are built along the river, to be rented out to visitors. During rainy season, however, these huts are washed down to flash floods, only to be rebuilt the following summer.
This ancestral house marks the home of Emiliano Riego de Dios, a member of the Katipunan, which is an underground anti-Spanish group that set the Philippine-Spanish Revolution. Emiliano fought in the revolution together with his brothers Colonel Vicente and General Mariano. He was also elected the Minister of War during the Tejeros Convention in 1897; the Military Governor of Cavite in 1898; and Vice President of the Hong Kong Council in 1898. Following the Filipino bahay na bato, the ancestral house was originally made of wood and adobe. It is now a private residential area, and can only be seen from the outside.
