The Tawilis is a freshwater sardine that can only be found in Taal Lake. It can grow up to 15cm in length, although its weight never goes beyond 30g. There are two ways to cook it--one is to fry it to a crisp, while the other entails wrapping a handful in banana leaves and having it simmer with dried kamias and salt inside a clay pot or palayok. Tawilis is usually served with a heaping of diced tomatoes, onions, green mangoes, and bagoong. There's no excuse not to try it out since tawilis dishes are commonly available in most restaurants in Batangas.

Sky Ranch
7.41 km away

Located beside Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay, Sky Ranch is a five-hectare amusement park overlooking Taal Lake and Volcano. The park offers fun rides such as carousel, sky jump, sky cruiser, and ferry's wheel, from P50 to P200/ride, on top of the P100/head entrance fee.
Also called Sky Eye, Sky Ranch's ferry's wheel is the tallest in the Philippines, at 63 meters or 207 feet. One ride lasts about 10 minutes, with unique views of Tagaytay City and Taal Lake. However short, riding the ferry's wheel could be invigorating, especially during sunset.
Other amenities in Sky Ranch include gazebos for rent (P750 to P1,000), a 2,000sqm tent for events, and several fast food chains near the park entrance.

Amadeo Coffee Farms
9.25 km away

Exploring Amadeo wouldn't be complete without drinking a cup of Amadeo Coffee or Pahimis Blend, and getting lost in one of its coffee farms. Coffee farms carpet 75 percent, or 3,600 hectares, of Amadeo's total land area. With about 4,000 coffee farmers in town, every street reeks of coffee, some turned into dryer beds for coffee beans. While visitors can easily knock on someone's door to check out his coffee farm, the best farm to see is the farm project by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCCAARRD). The 2.7-hectare farm project, called Science and Technology-based Farm on Coffee Production, is headed by the farmer-scientist Teodoro dela Cruz. He tours travelers around his farm, and introduces them to many coffee planting techniques such as multiple cropping, multiple stem pruning, and fertilizer application.
